There are lots of different reasons why you might need to shop for some cardboard.  This may be the first time you are going to be moving and you will most likely need a lot of cardboard boxes in order to move easily. It is possible you own a company that just got its brick and mortar store shutdown and you need to go out and start shipping items instead.  There are lots of reasons to need some cardboard and there are lots of different places you can get it from.  Now the market has changed greatly and you may be able to go to a store in person or you may be forced to buy online.

If you are going to buy locally. I have found that the shipping supplies from stores like menards and lowes are great for moving.  If you have to move and are in a big hurry this is a way to get the boxes the same day or within 15 minutes depending on where you live.  It is nice to have the convenience of being able to get something you need quickly. But these boxes are going to be on the light side or how hard they are able to be constructed.  There are only some availability of the types of weights these boxes can hold and you won't have a lot of virarity. The price of these will also be a big high compared to buying from some online companies.  So be careful if you need a lot of these and have the time it can be beneficial to buy these online instead of buying in person.

Now purchasing some of these shipping supplies online from companies that simply deal with these items can have a big benefit. If you are going to buy a bunch of boxes it may be really good to find a company that specializes in those items and can get really specific on the type of boxes you need.  If you want to find a box that is much more sturdy than a moving box from a big box store then you will need to go online.

  

If you also want to use a specially sized box that is going to be the best option is to order them from online. Now if you get them from amazon they will usually cost a little less then brick and mortar but will be more than a online specialty store.  So be careful and know what you want.

Where to get packaging fast

When you are in a pinch and things are getting difficult knowing where to get supplies fast is important.  We live in a world where people want things now and unfortunately the stress we feel to get items to people quickly weighs heavily on many people.  Sometimes the time between a purchase being made and the shipping is actually the worst part of a transaction and that goes for the buyer and the seller.  The shipping part can be the absolute worst thing in the world for many individuals.  So if you find yourself missing an item that you need, having a backup place to replace it can save your physiological health!

Now first you have to find your main source of shipping supplies.  If this is your main business or even a simple side gig it is nice to shop around to find the best place for you.  Many people simply use Amazon as a great source of sourcing materials.  This can be an easy way to see lots of samples of items and ways to use them.  There is also a downside and that is the cost of buying from Amazon.  The cost is usually higher here because you are not purchasing in bulk.  But if this is your main source of supplies then make sure you have enough on hand or are able to purchase them and get shipping with prime.  But even now when the pandemic is happening prime is sometimes a week or three weeks out for non essential items.  So a backup is needed.

It is best to find a local brick and motor store that carries the shipping supplies you use on a regular basis.  Yes it does take extra time to find a store that carries what you generally use.  But knowing where a backup item is and can be purchased within an hours is really nice to know.  It may have a downside of costing more and you may have to pay to travel to and from the store, but if you have to ship an item then you will be able to most likely the same day.

The stress of not being able to know when you can ship an item can literally sap the strength from you and your day.  So having a backup is imperative to you and your company. Stay safe and be wise with your health and you products.

Places to not buy packaging items

We have all been there. It could be a forgotten birthday or an anniversary gift that we are a little bit late on.  There are lots of reasons why we are in a pinch and need to ship something really fast.  It could even be for work and you need to send a gift or a item that got left behind in an order.  There are lots of reasons to get busy shipping something quick, but don’t lose your head and logic when you are doing it.  There can be many mistakes made in where you get and use your shipping supplies and you can be costing yourself terribly by doing it wrong.  So take a deep breath, add some time to plan and lets go over a few things not to do when you are in a hurry to ship an item.

First thing to do is not to go directly to the post office or shipping store.  If you go there it is a guarantee that you will indeed be spending lots of extra money on your shipping supplies at the direct location.  They surround you with lots of boxes and bags and tape that looks like you can simply pick up and use.  But trust me each one of those items has a price to it.  I can remember going into the United states post office next to my home and one of the edges of my package was a little loose and needed another strip of tape.  I was a little worried about it and I was pretty sure the cost of the item would only be 7 dollars to ship. 

  I looked on the counter and there was a nice partially used role of packing tape.  I went to take a strip and put it on them package and it had a blue eagle on the tape. It was the post office to it made sense in my mind.  I used one small strip and went to wait in line.  The tape signified that the item had to be sent a specific way and the cost of the shipping went from 7 to 20 dollars.  This was insane in my mind and made me really furious. I pointed out the weight and size and they pointed out the blue tape that signified priority plus. Immediately, I took the take off and left.  I was really made that they would charge 13 dollars for a strip of tape. 

So it really is important to plan ahead and make sure you don’t just spend way to much money at the shipping location.
